This might be a female. Do you know for sure it's male?
BIP/4U IM NOT SURE .THE COLOR IS VERY INTENSE YELLOW I WOULD THINK ITS A MALE .WHAT DO YOU THINK? DAN NOON MIGHT KNOW.
I was thinking female because it lacks the black on the pelvic and anal fins, and only has slight black along the dorsal.
Looks like a female to me. You might want to hook her up with a male instead.
ILL CHK AT THE PET SHOP. WHAT EVER IT IS IM GOING TO HOOK IT UP WITH A MATE I DIDNT KNOW THE MALES HAD SOME BLACK COLOR ON THE PELVIC ANAL FINS/DORSAL IM NEW TO THE CICHID. I DO FIND THEM INTRESTING AND IM GLAD I FOUND THIS PLACE ITS PRETTY COOL.
Pete, this is a yellow lab (common name), labidochromis caeruleus is the scientific name.
Pete look at my pictures mine is a male. There is one picture of him. Just click on my name if you dont know how already.
Pete just one egg spot and the yellow lower fins usually means female. The males tend to show darker lower fins and more egg spots. Not always but most of the time.
ROGER . THAT GOES FOR ALL CICHLIDS?OR IT DEPENDS ON THE SPECIES.
No not for all of them. Like peacocks the males have longer more pointed dorsal, and anal fins. Females are shorter and rounded tips. Males are long and flowing and females stop at the peduncle.
how about the demons.is there somthing on them to tell them apart?
