hey Frank, I like #2 as U can sit at the bar and see the tank straight on.. NOW is this the tank on the left that U are placing in the wall OR another one?? How did the tank settle in after I helped U with the pH/GH/KH problem?? Barb
No, I have a 29 gal thats going in the wall. The tank on the left is my main tank - 72 gal - thats the one you helped me with. That one stays where it is :) When I first set it up, I wanted to recess it in the wall its on, but its a bowfront, so it kind of complicates things.
The tank has been solid since I added the crushed coral. Water parameters hold steady and are perfect for the fish - thy are really thriving and displaying nice colors. Thank you again for all that help.
Glad the tank is doing so good and a simple solution to fix the problem.. I saw on your other post of size of tank going in.. I stll like the #2 spot.. direct on for viewing at the bar..
I'm leaning towards 2 - my worry is losing the shelf space - I cant make the tank too high, or it will look silly - its a basement with 7 ft ceilings, the shelf is 46" tall, and I would want it to be at least 4-5" higher. Tank is 18" high. Location 1 is easier, 2 is probably more appealing :) I wont be cutting any sheetrock/studs until tomorrow at the earliest, so gives me some time to think :)
i really like # 2 also, spaces tanks out more, give mre wall space for other things and view the tank directly while being seated at your bar...its going to look awsome.
U can always do shelves like over the 72 gal for taller deco/other IF U place it in the #2 spot to help balance it out some.. Tough choice but I am sure U will figure it out..
btw is that piston made into a clock? and do you think your packers will be looking for a new franchise qb or stay with rodgers? not a packer fan but really going to miss seeing brett out there .... a1 quality guy !
:) Roger, whenever you say hi, I do actually pass it along.
Harvick - Yeah, my father-in-law has a buddy who makes them :) Thought it looked pretty cool. As for my Packers, I'm excited to see Rodgers - he wont be Brett Favre, but I think he has the skills, and 3 seasons in the system as a backup can only help. Rodgers could have went #1 overall, so you never know - Packers may be in trouble, or may be sitting on a goldmine.
Frank use the whole space and get a bigger tank. lol. put it where you feel it because you are going to be looking at it all the time. Where are the crayfish?????
I thought as Harvick did. Put in two tanks. If that is not feasible, I like #2 beacuse it's centered and seems to be framed by the bar. Could the shelf be moved to one side, and another one added to the other side? That would still allow you to put taller things on the selves and would make the tank center of attention.
Totaly agree with Tony. A 29 can't realy house anything that can be seen very good from the bar. Get a 125 and do'er up right. Then put shelves on the sides. If your sold on the 29 then spot #2 looks good frome this angle.
Aaron, the 29 is going to house a pair of Cutteri to breed. The space behind the wall isnt really condusive to a deep tank, because it would block access to the laundry room and small shop area that I have back there. :) I of course love the idea, just not practical.
Tang I'm from New York - I know, odd being a Packer fan here, but my uncle for some reason (also from NY) is a fan, so I learned from him. Been to Lambeau field three times.
Bip, the space is deceiving - the area probably looks bigger in the pic than it really is. I"ll post a side shot later so you can see how much space i"m working with :) Looks like #2 is winning ... :)
Frank, your fish hole looks great! I'll tell ya, everyone keeps on saying #2(like watching price is right) but you should do whatever makes aquarium maintenance easiest. You would not want to put it somewhere you dread doing your weekly/bi-weekly maintenance. Bud, Both areas would be awesome. Better yet, just knock the whole wall out and put in a rack of tanks lol!
I like #1.
Being more visible for dif areas.
And is not expected, which makes it more appealing to my eye.
I also agree with Travis.
Which ever is easiest to get to and work on would play a big factor in where I'd put it.
