I am going to have a compact flourescent light on it, no lid. Plants will be allowed to grow out the top and the driftwood used will also peak out the top.

Well the light is going to cost more than any other equipment in the tank. $30 shipped.

lots of people keep shrimp in open topped tanks, which is where I got my inspiration for it.
