My Giant Gourami is the king of the tank, but my Distichodus is growing quickly! The Rainbowfish and barbs are just happy to have room to swim....and the earth eater(Jurapari)he just cleans my gravel all day (maybe I should name him Dyson!)

Your tank looks awesome wish i had a tank that big, heh. I wanna if those plants r real and if they are what kind of plants? also if they're real how do u keep ur barbs from eating them? i had amazon swords in my tank and my barb chowed down on them like a salad, I'm just in the process of regrowing them.

unfortunately, no....the plants aren't real. they are pretty good looking fakes though, especially after the algea grows on them a little. I've tried the hardiest of plants (jungle val / anubias/ and even java fern) and they eat them with in a day! So I gave up and stuck with the fake ones! My distichodus the barbs rainbows headstanders and especially my Gourami (13" so far) love veggies!!!! I feed them peas and watermelon and cantalope etc...(they love strawberries)I've never had fish this big that weren't carnivores....it's actually really fun feeding them "people food!" Of course whenever my kids catch grasshoppers or crickets - they do love eating them as well...the fish that is not my kids!:)

What a beatiful tank!! I can't wait until my 4" Giant Gourami gets as big as yours.

Marcus, if your tank is large, and you feed him well, it won't take long! My 13" Gourami was only about 5 months old!

Boo! My tank busted! :(
All these guys have been sold back to the pet shop.....and I'm about a month away from re-setting up my tank.
I can't wait!!!!! It pains me to see a big 7 foot hole in the wall!

Thank you.
Thats the last time I try to take a short cut.(Someone gave me the tank and stand) It lasted about 6 months with no problems, then the seam leaked (BIG TIME!) Anyway, I'm starting over with acrylic and making a homemade styro/concrete background - and I'm going to fill it with africans. The background is all finished, I'm doing multiple water changes now to keep the PH stable, and then I'll be ready to set it up and start to cycle it. If everything goes according to plan - I should be up and running with fish in about a month. Wish me luck!

Good luck Vince, I am sorry for your troubles, I know how it feels. 6 month ago, when I did construction, I left metal screw on the wood stand, then put 125 g on top of it and start fill it with water, you know the rest prolly, thanks GOD it was in my garage and I was planning to sell that tank anyway, I did sell it but for pennys:(
I did keep the stand, extend and refinish it and now it hold my 210g.
Good luck Bro..

Yeah....My tank is down my basement - and the tank itself is in the unfinished part(right near the sump pump) So no damage was done at all!
I can't wait to set the new one up!
I might even take a picture of how the project is coming along for a before/after shot.
thanks again.
