I was going for a Natural look even though African lakes do not contain lace rock. I just really like the reds in the lace rock and the way it goes with drift wood that is also not found in African lakes. lol. But over all I think it came out ok. The Fish seem to like it. Tank is a week old. Picked up everything from my friend Alex at Ultimate Fish in Spring Tx
Decoration
- Gravel: Sand
- Plants: Assorted Plastics from Michaels :)
Lace Rock, Assorted pieces of petrified wood, 1 carefully selected piece of drift wood and white sand.
Technics
- Light: PowerGlo 18000
- Light-Duration: Off when I'm assleep. :)
- Filtration: 2 Eheim 2213's 1 on the Left and 1 on the Right side of the tank. AquaClear 5000 left side 900+gph Flow & air Across Front. MaxiJet 900 230gph right side Flow across back. All with sponge filters attached.
A steady circular current keeping a slight ripple effect on the surface.
I have heard speculation about current in a Cichlid tank. I have had tanks both ways and think my fish are very happy and enjoy playing in the current and bubbles and all seem to know where the dead spots are at when it’s time to sleep. Over all I have found my cichlids to be thicker from current life.
