The colour in the rocks and gravel takes away the beauty of the fish .

yea i agree jon...i had my 55 gallon with all that color in it and i hated it...i just got a 75 and changed the whole look to a more natural look and gave all the colorful stuff to the fry

Christian-any suggestions for fry keep? My jewels just laid eggs, so I should be having some soon. Just want to make sure they don't get sucked up in filter intake. I have them in a 30gl right now and have no where else to put them except a 10gl.

Well I havnt had any experience with fish who lay eggs because my africans are mouthbrooders but I guess I wud wait to see if they are fertilized which wud be wen u see the fry actually swimming then if you really want to keep all and care for them I wud seperate them....if you only want a few I wud leave them in the tank a see who survives or seperate a few and leave the rest to be eaten

when they actually start swimming, just net them up and put in my 10gl? What about the filter intakes? Thanks-and sorry for all the questions, fairly new to this.

I bought some sponges that basically cover the intake as well-but have to find a way to keep them securely on without sliding up/down the intake..rubberband maybe? lol
***kylie *** » posted 2008/03/13 - 01:00
just watch that the band dsent rot as the fish peck at themm.. i have also seen little drawstring bags you put charcol in for filter ver fine mesh you could tie it around as well maybe..
