You are right Dane. The true Ahli's are not pretty fish. Fryeri's used to be called Hap Ahli's.

fryeri are a bit smaller than ahli and fryeri has a nose thats kind of flat where as the ahli has a nose that follows the contur of the head therefore looking like it has a longer head

The old true ahli's from years back had very little color. They are not sought after in the trade. I learned this from Vince. Not the Haplachromis Ahli.
