Were these guys more black as babies? I read that they turn a golden brown as they mature. Just like your pics. These guys are beautys.

These guys are in a 90 gallon but when we get another bigger tank I think they will go in it...hoping this summer

Deborah, did these guys look much more black as youths/babies? I have one that is very dark in color. I was told he was lighten up a lot to a golden brown. But right now, i don't see any colors. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I bough 2 3" yesterday and they are dark brown, with dark spots,(something like military haki patern), eyes is not red yet.
BTW, it is 2 species Uaru, one still not identified, SP. They about the same size, but have not as deep backed body and also this triangle spot on the middle is different from genuine Uaru . I am still learning about this fish, first time I got them, so I am not sure which one here on the picture as well the one I bought, non for less they both interesting and beautiful, so I don't really care which one I got, time will show, I'll post pictures soon.
