no they are not hybrids. they are just from different areas. the gold and silver saums come from ecuador. these are the original gt's and come from peru . they don't get as large but are more aggressive then the averag saum. the one's i'm getting are still babies. only 1in. it'll be a while before they get like this guy.

Chuck you are correct when saying:
" the silver saum ( or white saum)is in fact , the "true" green terror."
Thats the fact from the book

misinformed. the average silver saum and the true gt are different. i don't know what book you're looking at, but it's incorrect. the regular silver saum is from comes from southern ecuador. the gold saum from the northern part. true terrors come from peru. you can find this out on several sites. ex. aquariumlife.net, aquatic-hobbyist.com, cichlidscene.com, etc...
first of all the difference is in the scales. if you look closely at a gold or silver saums scales you'll see that each one is colored on the outside with the dark spot in the middle. on a true gt it is the exact opposite. second, they don't get as large, and last of all they are more aggressive.

David Sabourin » posted 2007/05/04 - 20:49
There is a place in B.C that ships.
Ask Mr. C for the link, I checked it out the other day and it looked pretty good. Reasonable prices too.

Hope it helps.

Actually, I was able to find the link in my history from last week.
Here you are,
Good luck.
