this photo, was taken later than the other ones. I have a young hara about 1/2" I am going to express this to you with, he is black-dyed half back and it should show him changing over the next ew months into maturity
I don't really want to argue....BUT the there are a number of differences between the two fish, First the egg dummies differ in number and shape, there is also a different # of bars (which they have from birth, and I know this species very well), and lastly the pattern on the dorsal fin is also different. The "black tail" over which this all started, does not fade over time, my buddy is actually trying to fix a black tail strain of Gold Compresiceps, his fish have had it since they were small and it hasn't faded in maturity. It is a genetic predispostion towards melanism, which has manifested itself in the caudal region of the said fish. It's not a disease, nor will it fade as the fish gets older.
thanks James, that is basically what i told another guy about "black tail" except i said i destroyed the fry & parent to stop this disorder when cs wanted to prove me wrong .
when stressed, I will show him, he does still have it when not dominant and stressed. And yes James same fish, just older, Only Hara in tank with Empress. 1 Hara (Now 2.75") 3 Daktari, 10 empress, and one lone male Christyi.the Photo's posted were not over a few days time, they were over a span of about 3 months. If I can get him to sit still long enough for a shot, you can see even after 2 more weeks since last photo shoot, his barring has decreased, and spots have increased. I also know this species well. Color change in Malawi and Tang fish differ 100%. Malawi based cichlids color changes instantly under stress, Tang's just fade out some. They grow, color, eat, and thrive differently, no comparison between the two lakes.
James, gimme just a minute to crop em for uploading, I have some updated pics of him from just a few minutes ago, going to show you both dom and non-dom colors on him, and Vince, shh lil fella, the big kids are talking here.
hey Vince, back to reading or what ever it was you were doing..and I'll let you know when I am talking to you, and you can decide to answer then. In the mean time, don't bother trying to get mouthy with me, I'd rather watch paint dry.
