i would def. say male as all females i have seen at 3" have defined barring and no spots in the fins, but the males i have seen all have spots in the fins, and only show barring when the are stressed or angry. im sure marc ryan will give u a more educated guess:o)
thanks brian. his bars do come out when he is mad. i had a feeling it was a male. i just wasn't sure. i was hoping i'd end up with a female though. i've had him for a little while now but haven't been able to get a pic until now. you can see from his tail that he was pretty chewed up when i got him. so fins weren't much help.
no prob, he'll heal up good, i would definatly suggest another tank for him once he starts to be a prick, a 75g should be plenty for a single male rt, my friend james has a wc male rt in a 75g its pushin 14"tl, last time i saw it, and hes doing great.
he'll probably end up in my oscar tank. i don't know how much longer he'll be around. hes gone blind in his one eye and hasn't been very active as of late. his appitite hasn't been that great either. he is 16 though. they can't live forever.
Great job! i'm still going to need a hand with mine!
