red devil

he's one mean dude. but the reason im posting this picture is to ask if anyone here has ever heard of or seen a solid black red devil. it's not one that happened to be black but all of the fry are black too.the guy im getting them from said you can't get them no where. i can't find any on google so i thought i would ask here.

has anyobne else had the problem of not getting their name to show up under their picture. i always login but it says anonymous and when i want to post a pic or post a comment i have to login again

Shawn, I myself have never seen a black Devil. I have post w/ one that shifted to black then orange then white but now solid orange. Fry will not attain color for at least 90 days or so.

my bad. i didn't mean to say the fry were black, just that all the fry will for sure (100%)turn all black when they get older. my friend is getting 2 pairs for $10 a pair and is giving them to me for some crawdeads im going to catch. the devils will be about 3 in. when i get them. it will be about a week but if they look good i will get a pic and post it.

Most Devils will go through many colour changes before maturity. As stated by Jess or Travis, most will go through a mottled black appearance. Although there is a colour variation which they call Piebald (This is where they hold that mottled black appearance) Since it's such a big deal to post other peoples pictures here for reference, just copy and paste this link for an example. http://www.tangledupincichlids.com/images/pie3.jpg.
