yea travis, just got done cleaning mine. the devil started to charge the glass as soon as he saw the python. and hes not as bad as your guy. all i can say is good luck brother, and just have the band aids waitn.
Hey Kyle, I got this income tax and am going to get an order set in F&S. Really thinking i should get a Python, is there a downside to the python? Does it use more water? Does it take a little longer? Do you have problems cleaning your filter floss in routine maintenance w/ lack of water to work with? sorry for lot's of questions, but don't want to spend money to disrupt a normal habit with hose's and buckets, they have worked well for me:)
yea bud, you gunna like it. did buckets for years, till i got my 75. then one of my friends showed me his python. trust me cuts the time and effort down a lot. just might have to hit the gym some more tho.
Get one Travis, I did about a month ago. It takes about the same amount of time to do a water change for me but I can now sit on my couch and watch TV or whatever while the Python does all the work. Love it!!!
Whoa! Roger, you are bucketing all those tanks!?!?!? That's gotta be alot of work. Like Kyle said, once you have a python you'll wonder how you did changes without it. Especially with 10+ tanks.
Aaron, I have 2 pythons I use them to drain but not fill. until yesterday and I did a major water change on the oscars tank and used it both ways. Patty has 15 gal jugs she uses most of the time. If I feel up to it I will use a 5 gal bucket. Lots of work and walking.
I have always worried about not getting chemicals right like that. Paty put enough to do the whole tank and we filled it back with no problems. I guess old habits die hard.
Kyle, I should use my head, I can measure how far down on the tank and get the gallons. I know how long and how wide they are Well Duh!!! Should use it sometimes it wouldn't rust up..lol
I have one switch that turns off all my filters. When I drain I turn them off. I then add water and condition it before turning back on the filters. This way no chlorine gose threw my bio filter.
Guys, thats plain crazy, LOL.
You wont have problem with chlorine if do it smart. I remove and then add 20% of tap water right after, at one shot, with both filter running, never had any issue. Most chlorine vaporize anyway, if you have good movement of water surface while doing water change (air pump, filters, etc).
Common fish keeping must be fun, not suffering with freakin buckets, etc.
I don’t add any (chlorine removing/stress coat) addictives as well
Alex, they put chloramine in the water here. It will not evaporate that quick. I know you can add the chlorine removers, but try to tell Patty it won't hurt the fish. She ays I will not hurt the fish. I am slowly convincing her it won't hurt them.. 15 tanks is a lot of buckets..lol
Hey Rog, long time no talk, how are you? I hope all is well.
They put chloramine here is well.
I have a suggestion for you, have it test it with one tank.
Replace 10% of water the way I do, do not use any addictives! See how it goes, then keep going if you like it
Alex, I am doing pretty good, I will try to do this when she is not home. I will do it with some young convicts easily replaced. Good to talk with you to Buddy.. I said something the other night must have missed you..
I don't have problems either and no additives. Just don't go over 20%. Most fish are not to sensitive (except my Rotkeil) but I just take less out and it solved my problem. Takes a lot to actually kill a fish from changing water.
Thanks all, I was never worried about the chemicals being added. I will still have the bucket handy though to clean those filters/sponges and such. Gonna have a python soon!
