Is there something special to keeping this fish or what? Because I swear I've litterally have had about 6 or so, not at the same time, die! I didn't buy them all at one time, but every single one has died and my other fish seem to be fine. Yours though looks very healthy and happy I might add. What do you do to keep them alive?

im not sure... dont do anything special. started out with 10 gal tank and bought him when he was about 1 inch cause i thought he was pretty. didnt even know what he was. he should have died many of times when i didnt know what i was doing. he was the reason that when i moved i got the 55 gal tank he is in now. he hung in there through the learning experience and was outgrowing his 10 gal. he has great personality gets along with any fish i put with him and is now about 4.5 inch beautiful fish. I say keep trying these fish add personality to your tank.

Thanks Bakerha. Yeah I know what you mean, that these fish bring personality and color and it's not like Im gonna give up on them, they just die, and maybe that's just it they die. I am gonna keep trying though and hopefully they'll thrive. Later:)

that is debateable I had mine with barbs in the 10 gal and he got along with them. Then i got my 55 gal and wanted to try africans had most say that you shouldnt mix with south americans but i had already gotten my afrcian and they all get along fine. he stays to himself most of the time and if the african get on his nerves he flare at them and charge and they knock it off. I keep the temp about 76 and everyone seems healthy and happy and have really nice color. ill try to post some of the africans soon with him.

I have a Beautiful 4" male Firemouth in a 55 gal with 3 other fish. They all get along well, with the Firemouth being the tank boss. A GT 3", a JD 3.5", and a Tiger Oscar 4.5". All Males. Moving them to a 100 gallon in 2 weeks. He only flares his throat at his reflection. They all have their own caves, and other than chasing each other , No problems. I have been very lucky not to ever lose a Cichlid.
Thank You
