no he's not a pure midas, he definatly has red devil in him. he was sold as a midas, but obviously he is not, the only way to no for sure that your getting a pure midas or a pure red devil is to get one from a reputable breeder. i got this one at petsmart, lol, so of course he's not pure, but i still like him. he has a 55g all to himself, i have wanted a male midas by himself in his own tank for a long time, and seeing marc ryan's devil, and mylan's devil, it really made me want one, these fish are so full of personality, and character, espescially when they have a good sized tank to themselves, they can really show off their unique personallities. i will post a pic of his tank tonight.

i'm doin good how bout u, i'm currently in the process of giving most of my cihlids to a good frien who has a 265g the only fish in the tank died of old age last friday, it was his uncles 47" black arrowana, so now he wants cichlids, he has 7 other tanks, all with cichlids, i am giving him all of my cichlids except for my male carpinte, and my male red devil, i will be getting a 3-4" female carpinte escondido, from jeff rapps soon, they will have one of my 55g tanks to themselves, and my male red devil will have the other 55g to himself, i am doing this because i have to many fish, mostly due to impulse buying, lol, i love them all, but i am doing this for the sake of the fish, and i am keeping the ones that are my absolute favorites, and sticking with them. the cool thing is i can still see them when i'm in dallas, so its all good.i will get pics of the red devils tank soon, and also i will get a pic of the carpinte's color, when the other more dominant fish i.e. green terror, peacock bass, are gone and its just him, his color will look so much more impressive when hes dominant.

I need to do the same thing, if I can find the right home. Good for you. I'll be damned if I can figure which fish I like the most though. Usually it's the youngest ones for me, cuz it's so rewarding to watch them grow. Good luck!

I like your coice in cichlids, Brian. :) Although, if i were you and could get my hands on a female Escondido, i'd sell my male and pick up a male aswell.

i'm doing ok. i know what you mean. i'm finding myself in the same cicumstances. i still have a bunch of carpinte fry to get rid of on top of my 3 convicts, and geo bras. i might have to get rid of my fh as well. my oscar has been given him hell.

well everyone, good and bad news, last night my carpinte went nuts, tried to gain complete dominance, and in doing so nearly killed my nic, and my nic then turned on my jd and nearly ripped his lower lip off, after that my carpinte locked jaws with my gt and they fought from what my mom said for like 2 hours, and when i came home i said screw it and traded them all in for cash. but, this morning, one of my friends who 4 months ago bought a pair of wild jags from jeff raps , well he called and said that the fry they had 1week after recieving them were now alittle over 3", and if i wanted one to come and get it, so i did, its a 3.5" f1 jag, i will post pics tonight.

sorry to hear about the rumble. hate to see that many cool fish go. but jags are awesome, he should make you very happy.
Nathan Sederholm » posted 2007/12/01 - 00:29
wow. My Carpinte did the same thing when she went into heat. She was trying to get at everyone but nobody was having it. Started with my Venustus. Totally put her in her place with JD and Bleekeri to follow. Then the Psittacus just kind of went nuts on her and she just hides in the bushes now. Kind of feel sorry for her. I'm in the same boat with space in the near future but will probably just get a bigger tank.

i wish i could just get a bigger tank, lol, unfortunatly, i still live at home, but when i get my own place, i am going to get several more tanks, i really want a female for my male rd, in a 125g, similar to marcs, i also want to pair up my jag, and have them in a 125g, and i want a female carpinte for the male i will soon be buying, and they will be in a 75g. someday damnit someday:P
