males are this color as this is , females are a yellowish orange . juvie males will be orangish and turn to this color . best thing if you don't know about your fish is to google it . lots of info out there
and there are no stupid questions , you dont learn if you dont ask . i was in the same place as you a year ago . and i'm by no means an expert but i do alot of reading and take in all the knowledge on here . good luck and welcome to the site
no alot of them vary in coloring , like most things out there including some humans ( watch the remarks after this ) males are more colorful . some species females are kinda blah ie. i've been reading up on flavus and kwanga golds . males are bright yellow with black face & body barring and females are more brownish but can have some coloring . some go by egg spots on caudal fin but thats not 100% either as some females have egg spots also . best bet would be to just research and ask mike, james or chuck and jerry . oh and barb ! they are all top rate !
