Please do not give these fish away, especially in pairs. There are enough freaking hybrids out there already. If you don't want them please dispose of them. Please do your part in keeping this hobby as pure as possible.

If people keep doing this, in the future there will be no pure species amoung the aquariums, all we'll be able to get is hybrids. We'll have to pay out our a** for wild caught specimens. Please consider this and keep purists like myself happy. :)

you don't have to worry about them reproducing marc. they are infertile so they won't be taking over you lfs store, and besides not all people feel the same way you do about hybrids. second of all i didn't intend for the fish to breed. they just did. if anything i figured the telmatochromis would kill the leleupi. not breed with it. i'm not going to kill them. they are a great looking fish. i just wish the pic did any justice.

i live just north of albany, ny. the fish is a neolamprologus leleupi/telmatochromis temporalis cross. i wish i could get a pic without the flash. they look much better then this pic shows. even though they are a nice fish i'm glad they are infertile though. i have too many fish as is without them reproducing.

Hybrids aren't a problem....as long as you keep them and enjoy them yourself, and not try to pass them off - or worse yet sell them to a pet shop as a pure strain fish! I have some mbuna that cross bred and produced some strange looking babies....some amazingly beautiful - and others....rather drab. But they are my concern - and if I don't have room or the need for them - I'll dispose of them myself rather than pollute and dillute the hobby.
Good Luck finding a home for your fish, and kudos on being completely honest with people as to what they are getting.

believe me. the last thing i want to do is ruin the hobby. they were not an intended breeding. i just don't want to destroy them i feel bad enough as is using them as dither fish for my larger american cichlids. that's why i'm glad they are infertile.
