Kyle, easy way to measure the fish. Take a regular 12 " or larger ruler and lay it in front of the tank glass, on top of the wood stand, where fish usually swim. Leave it there permanent. It will be many occasions daily when you have a chance to see your fish next to the ruler and determent their size precise.
sure guys, any time, glad to help.
I have mine 12" metal ruler which serve the purpose for years (untill fish overgrow it,lol. I clearly see the size of my fish.
nathan my devils pupils look normal. i found the best way to tell them apart was lips and mouth shape. but most arent true midas or devils any more but a mix.
yeah kyle/nate, if you look at picture of my Red Devil I had years back, his eye pupils looks same as the Midas.
agree with kyle, best to part them out the head and lips shape, also Midas have allot higher body.
Ya, I know not always but that devil in particular has them that's why I jumped to that conclusion. http://www.cjexotics.com/images/red-devils.jpg
I agree too. The snout to me is a give away. Something about it. It's hard to explain.
will do kyle, he/she become really bitchy lately, really hate all Heros, specially the guy who bother her? before. I feel sorry for both of my Waroo, they having hard time to get the food, all eaten before they got any, they are too slow for my crew
yep these are devils, sure thing. Lips give away.
They are very different fish.
Midas is Amphilophus Citranelium other Labiatum. I have read that they are not cross breeded in the wild.
You'll never miss pure adult Midas, he don't have much from Labiatum, but again it's so true that today is most of them cross breed:(
don't tell no one, but I like the look of adult Devil like yours, allot more then adult Midas with a huge ugly hump, but thats just people preferences, many is oposite.
was hopeing he would grow some hump to show male. but nuthing to big. i seen some on other sites with humps like tennis balls, looked like the humps would drag them to the bottom of the tank.
Beauties.
