yeah she still has her cough but now Matt and I both are sick! I called off work last night but can't afford to do it two nights in a row so here I am :) You?

Sorry to hear you and Matt aren't feeling well. I wondered where you were last night, figured you were just extra busy. I went to lfs last week to grab those fish I wanted an id on. The tank was a wreck. There were two dead ones and the rest were at the top gasping for air. There was some kind of fungus growing, possibly from over feeding. I let the owner know, and he was ticked off. He had been busy breaking down his salt tanks and left the other tanks to his workers. He told them to give the tank a good cleaning and was going to treat them for a week. Supposed to go back this Weds. to get them. Hopefully they are in much better condition.

geez. hopefully they are! poor fish. Yeah I did a really good clean on the 30 gallon and low and behold I have a total of 2 mel's left and only 1 flavipinnis....if you ask me how that happened I dont have an answer...no bodies and none of the other fish are anywhere close to big enough to have eaten them. I am totally bummed and disheartened and probably wont give them another try. I hope the 3 survive (don't know what I did wrong as ALL the other fish int he tank are great). I had a similar problem with Juli's when I started keeping them... too small I guess?????

Yeah, I haven't ever seen the tanks at this lfs the way this one was. Doubt after that, I ever will again, lol.
Total bummer about the fish. I don't think it's anything you did wrong. I vaguely recall Tang saying at least one of those types was really difficult to raise. That's odd that you can't find any bodies though. Did they jump out maybe, or in the filter? I hope the rest make it for you. I recently had one of my fish jump out of the tank, went to feed them and noticed he didn't come out. Looked everywhere for him, finally found him on my bedroom floor, arrrggg. I think he got spooked and managed to jump just right our a small opening.

The sand is argonite sand that I picked up at PetSmart :) Very pretty, but a huge pain to keep clean and causes filter problems too....I will change it out eventually for something with a bigger grain.
