i've had him for several months now. he's in a 72gal with some of my tangs. he was too small for my other south americans. he's getting big enough now that i'm going to put him in my 55 with my fire mouth, convict pair, and a chocolate. he's one of my favorites and full of personality.

They are pretty common where I am. Heck I think Petsmart will have them sometimes too.

he looks great josh, mine is not growing very fast, he is just barely under 3" total length, he has not lost any color, like yours he has only gotten brighter, he does not eat alot, but he does eat well, he'll only eat like 1x 1" cichlid stick, or like 2x 1/2" whole shrimp, its probably because thats all he can get to before my gold severum and green terror scarf it all, i feed whole shrimp on monday, i feed tetra cichlid sticks on tuesday, i feed hikari cichlid bio gold + on wednesday, i feed hikari cichlid gold on thursday, i feed freeze dried spirulina on friday, i feed omega one cichlid flakes on saturday, i feed whole krill on sunday, and on monday the cycle starts over, oh and once a month they get frozen bloodworms, and once every two weeks i feed diced up night crawlers. so i figure their pretty happy with their diet, fish need variety just like people.

yours is a very nice looking one as well. you have yours in a small tank, don't you? that could be one reason he's not growing as fast. you might want to try the hikari cichlid staple as well. mine seems to thrive on it.

actually he is back in the 55g, cause he did not like the small tank, now the 30gallon long that he was in is housing some 1" mbuna. by the way, my 100 gallon is not going to happen cause i ran into money problem, and now cant get it, but my dad has a friend at work who is movin gback to ohio, and is selling 95% of her stuff, she is selling me this absolutely awsome 55gallon long, for 150 dollars, i will post a picture of it when i get freakin camera working again. so i figured i would just split put some of my americans in it,

no, i sold it, it turned out to be a female, so i sold her and went and bought a male short-bodied green terror, i wanted a male, he is now 5" total length. and he eats like a freakin oscar, i put 15x 1" cichlid sticks in and he freakin ate all but 5 of them.
