it sounds like a male. when melanochromis auratus are young they look the same. as they reach maturity the males change color from yellow and black to blue and black.
hey josh one more thing, i bought one green terror two days ago then another today. they're not together yet but will be when i get home. my question is that, can i put them together? i hope i can cause it wasn't cheap.
how big is the tank? if you have two of the same sex you'll need a big one. if you have two males more then likely it won't work unless it's a large tank with lots of territorial boundries. even then you can expect them to rough each other up a bit. take some pics for me
i gotta warn though man they are not the nicest looking gt. i bought it cause i felt sorry them. the local pet store didn't take care of it. so i said that i would. i'll post that pics later when i get the chance. it's embarassing but i'll post it
awsome, can i put one of these with 1x 3.25" geophagus brasiliensis, 1x 2" thread finned acara, and 1x 1.75" unidintified geophagus. the tank is 55g long.
So good, Do they call them anything else
Like ( Aquendis rivulatus ) Green Terror. Whats a Chishlosoma, Octofacsiatum. In idiot speaking. I.E if i ask my local pet store what would they call them
there called electric blue at our store.but they are 25 dollors for a 2 inch fish, heres why.to get a electric blue, you have to start with a male electric blue jack, breed him with a reguler female jack,Now when the babys are born there not blue but they carry the blue genes.you have to pick out the females and when they get big enough to breed, you have to put the original male electric blue jack that you started with ,and breed him with the females that are reguler jacks that have the gean of a blue.and when they have babys they will be electric blues. And thats why there so much money,
you can have more then 1 green terror i have 3,when i added a new one i just rearranged my tank so know one had a hiding place,so that way they wont fight for there territory.
i read on the internet that electric blue dempseys come from normal jackdempsey parents, just not often they have them thats why they are hard to find cause i am having a hard time finding one
hey joshua, i need some pretty quick help, the problem is that my electric blue jd is just chewing his food, but then immediately afterwards just spits it out, without ingesting any of the food, i have tried all of his favs, tetra cichlid sticks, hikari staple, hikari gold, hikari cichlid bio gold+, wardley tropical flakes, but he wont eat any of it, he eagerly chews it up like he wants to eat it, but then spits it back out. some help would be greatly appriciated, i just put him into his new 20gallon long, a tank i bought just for him and a clown loach, and last night he ate five hikari cichlid staple pellets, and today its like he cant swallow his food. please help!!!!
just keep a close eye on him. cichlids can be picky at times. you could try some live food, like brine shrimp or worms. you could try blood worms as well. they can go a while without eating. i'm going through the same thing with my gt right now. if he's still not eating he may have gotten an internal parasite. there's medication you can get for it.
also try not feeding him for a couple days. then put some food in. if he was just being picky he'll be hungry enough to eat. if not then a parasite is likely
