P.S. My venustus is too young to tell sex yet......but has a big fat gut like its eaten too much. Does that mean its a female? or does it simply mean its a pig? I've heard females have more of a belly.
Any truth to that....or do I have to wait it out and wait for him/her to color up to be sure.

just got him/her - juvi about 2 1/2 to 3". My haps keep having babies....so he's in there for future crowd control!

OK. At 4 inches you should see some blue. If not female. You know you could get a Fryeri too. I had one and that little guy would swallow up a good sized goldfish.

Vincent -- be careful, do you feed the fish worms? These fish are susceptible to Malawi bloat.
