That is a good question Robert. I am still doing my research on tangs, so I am not all that familiar with what can go with another, yet. I would hate to give you wrong advice or info. I do know that trophs can be quite aggressive and they do best in large groups. What size tank would all of these be in?
yer i was think about more but its not that big of a tank only 55gal and they do get aggressive when not in large numbers so i was thinking of Cyprichromis leptosoma as they from what i read don't tend to be to aggressive and the other fish are mostly rock dewllers except the brichardi so the top bit of the tank is what i'm aiiming to fill now
Sounds like you are farther ahead with it than I am, lol. I might be coming to you for advice when the time comes that I set up my tang tank. Tang O would be a good person to ask.
Hey Robert in regards to your question...Trophs can be agressive even in large numbers. I had 12 of them in with my 9 fronts and they kept most of the fronts in hiding because they like to chase (not necessarily agression). Leptosoma would work beautifully with rock dwellers, but again they do best when kept in large groups. They school in the wild in groups numbering in the 1000's so it is important to keep them with at least a small group. They really are neat fish (I have 4 right now but looking for more). The leptosoma cannot be kept with fronts though since they are one of a fronts natural food source. They do occupy the top layers of the tank and are completely non-agressive from what I have seen. They usually have a calming effect on the other fish and act as dithers since they swim in the open most of the time. Any more questions and I will try to help :)
nope not realy that sorts me out haha thanks marti and matt
so they would be ok in a 55 gal with my fish u think how many do u think i could get in there i was hopeing 4 or more
4 not enough unless you are really lucky,55g is a little on the small size for t's but if you are willing to possibly suffer a couple of losses you can only try.
What are the dimensions of the tank? Like M&M have already said Cyps are great tankmates for t's as they occupy the top areas of the tank and mark their territory in a 3 dimensional way(very funny to watch)with cyps at least 8+ to get the best from them and they will also help bring the t's out more as well.
I have the jumbo's and LOVE THEM. Ae you asking if you can put tropheus with cyps or cyps with the rock dwellers? I guess I got lost somewhere in the conversation. EE is right when he says they are great with either of them and I agree with him that if you want trophs that 4 is too few!!
i was asking if i could put either tropheus or cyps (non jumbo) in my tank.i gess i did get people lost.but yeh my tank is a normal 55gal with 4 leleupi 2 brichardi 1 calvus and i just wanted to see if i could get a fish that would stay in the top half of the tank and those 2 species came to mind
