Tony, I emailed Rapps and He said He bought some fry from another breeder(which he regrets and won't buy from particular one again)and after seeing pics of these fish when larger they are not purebred as advertised. He is currently breeding His own trimac and will make mine up in the near future:)

John mine was bought from LFS that i belive is supplied by rapps.John i posted this one time before and i will do it again. i have heard that throught the years my one local guy whom i have known for 20+ years has told me stories about Rapps. Now i can't say 1st hand because i have never dealt with him personally but this just proves what i have been told about him.Rapps of all people should know that the fish were suspect with all his wealth of knowledge. Iam just glad he is doing the right thing with you and probably countless others.

"Rapps of all people should know that the fish were suspect with all his wealth of knowledge."

Now that's a bit harsh. Keep in mind, he get's alot of his cichlids in as juveniles. So even with his wealth of knowledge it would be near impossible for him to tell by eye that they were not Trimac's.

I would have to agree with Marc. With the volume of fish and the fact that they don't show as much color in a whole sale type setups, anyone could make a mistake.especially if small juvies that you don't keep long

Marc not to sound like a di@K but this is his business. I am an amateur and i knew that mine and Johns were suspect. When young trimacs are one of the dullest cichlids on the planet it is not until they are older do they start to exibit the beautiful olive color they are known for. They are called the 3 spot cichlid for a reason 3 spots not 5 or six.My opinion not too harsh my opinion

Anyways, I am very Happy with his fish. And He offered to make up the fish without me asking.I sent an e-mail asking if mine was from the batch of fish He had that was in question,(was told of this from member on another site) and He said yes and would send one from His stock that is currently breeding:)

No mate, you don't sound like a dik at all, i can see your point. To quote John, "I emailed Rapps and He said He bought some fry from another breeder". Being that they were only fry it would be impossible to judge, all anyone could do is rely on the word of the breeder through whom they were purchased. To be totally honest i don't particuly care, as i wll never have to deal with him.
