These Are Peacock Fry...
These Are Peacock Fry...
These are the fry that my female peacock did not want to let go. I am seeing red in them. Could Shim (my ob) be the dad? He is the only fish that is even near a red color in the tank.

Nice Bip-how old? I think once my Taiwan fry get big enough and I can move them, I'll take gravel out of fry tank, gets too messy!

Thanks All!! I wanted to know what everyone thought.... Could these be My ob's offspring? I haven't seen any red on any of my fry before.

Jamie, they are about a month old now. (I put the "she finally burst" pic up on March 13th)

pretty fish but i have to say is the ob the father maybe but i find it wierd that they would show color from the first generation. then again i know nothing about peacocks.

the fish i breed i have noticed that you get hybrids like some of the peacock and color varients. i agree hybrids generally are bad and this could be a hybrid. i just would rais them out and see if it becomes clearer. my jack dempesey look nothing like ther adult parents so you may have something nice.

Harvick.. These are the peacocks you wanted some of.
jerry bradley » posted 2008/04/16 - 01:54
that was bas akwards lol hybrids will show right off but color varients you need a generation to see the color

Thanks Jerry. I'm just about 100% possitive that these fry are hybrids. Another batch of her fry were on the blue side.
jerry bradley » posted 2008/04/16 - 02:02
well in that case just rais them out and see what they look like. nice fish

sorry Bip-do u have spoge filter or reg filter running? Thanks.
bip_ 4u » posted 2008/04/16 - 02:21
Nothing to be sorry for Jamie.. I am running a reg filter, one of the kinds that actually go in the tank. Not crazy about it for water movement (breaking the surface) but it does a really good job of keeping the tank clean.

asking because I want to know when I can start my filter back up in the 10gl Taiwan fry tank...I am just running the sponge filter for now, but the grael is getting a little ugh-suctioning out food, etc. so it doesn't get nasty for now. When did u start running the filter after fry spit? Thanks.
bip_ 4u » posted 2008/04/16 - 02:31
I have been running that filter from day one. They don't go near it. To my knowledge, I haven't lost any yet to the filter.

Thanks Bip-learning a little everyday. I know I am clearing out gravel after they are big enough to put in 55gl. What do u have them now and plan on putting them? You still going to send me some? lol...I need to learn how to ship!

They are in a 10 gal right now. Not sure what they will move into yet. I have a couple of 20gals if they grow too quick. If we can figure out the shipping thing, sure you can have some. Same with the acei if you want.

Thanks Bip-I have a empty 55gl running/cycled and will be putting in peacocks/taiwans/haps..same here, if i can get the shipping thing down, will send some taiwan fry as well-have about 30 right now (only about 5 days spit), 4 died the other day...

They look great bip and when my fire fish and OB had fry they showed color very early as well. These guys look good :)
bip_ 4u » posted 2008/04/16 - 08:15
Cool!! TY Marti. These are really different from this peacocks other fry. They were a blueish tint, no sign of red at any stage. I think it would be pretty cool If my ob was the father. I am definitely going to keep some to see how they turn out.
