Here is my green terror and Red Zebra I referred to earlier today. I was hoping to cross-breed them. I think the colors are magnificent. I am not sure if the Zebra is female but I think so. Help me someone! Am I making a bad move to cross-breed?

not to sound rude but why would you want to cross breed an american breed to an african breed just curious

I don't think you are being rude in asking that question. I have been considering it for a long time. Some people feel that it is wrong to cross-breed but it happens all the time. If people can clone, and cross-breed with other animals, I do not see anything wrong with cross-breeding "my own" fish. I would feel differently if I was in the business of selling the offspring of cross-breeding. By the way, I have not ever done this in the past. I was just hoping to do something different and interesting. I believe that if I could breed these two, the end result would be a marvelous and beautiful achievement. I welcome all comments on this topic.

The Green Terror is about 4 and a half inches long. He is quite beautiful and active. Thanks for the compliment, by the way.

I have not measured him literally but I was just estimating his length. He is quite thick and healthy also. I only feed my fish about once every three days to cut down on cleaning the tank so much. I have an Emperor 400 bio-wheel filter and a sponge filter for filtration so I do not want to be cleaning the tank every week. I used to clean it bi-weekly but now I only clean it about once a month unless conditions in the tank calls for more frequent cleaning. I need to get a background but I kind of think that is tacky. I like the "natural look."

The tank is a 90 gallon bow-front. I hope to have a 225 gallon tank by the end of the year.

They both are beautiful fish, but I don't know if breeding them is going to work, but anything is possible.

They are both beautiful fish. I don't know how you would "force" them to breed. You can lead a horse to water but.... I also don't think I would want them to breed.

Maybe they should start an IVF program!
