Stand for 125gl
Stand for 125gl
(posted as offtopic)
ok everyone...I decided to take a stab at building my own stand out of 2"x4"...doing ok so far with the following exceptions:
1) the legs are uneven, so I figured I would have to saw off the uneveness (is that a word), anyway, to make them level. Any suggestions? I have already screwed everything in, so removing them is out of the question.
2) I am thinking of putting 1/2" or 3/4" plywood on top of stand and filling in the bottom frame with similiar covering...good/bad, any suggestions?

Thanks all and let's hope it works-this thing is getting really heavy!

As the carpenter saying goes - measure twice, cut once. You should be fine with trimming the legs to make them even. You've done a great job!! I think I'd go with 3/4" plywood for the weight - >1250 lbs.

thanks all-yeah, I'm learning a little each step...I honestly measured about 4-5 times, but somewhere over/under compensated! Thanks.

it looks good but do u think you should put some diaganal supports in between the legs.this would make it alot stronger and i think u will need it with all that weight that wil be going on it.now all the legs are fixed try measuring the shortest 1 and put a mark on each leg at this measurement then put a streight edge across them all to make sure they line up.(not sure how well i have explained it but it makes sense in my head!)hope i can help

I am a carpenter & I see one flaw . your legs should be the same or greater width to prevent being top heavy. Other than that it looks good.

Thanks Redd and Vince...Vince-do you mean width as far as measurements from left leg to next to next....? If so, I have 21.5" to first set of legs, then 18.5" in between middle sets of legs, then 21.5" to last set of legs. I just bought 3/4" plywood top today and plan on putting same 3/4" shelves on bottom bracing...after all done, should it be ok? Thanks again all.

got the vertically challenged legs situation straight, taking a jigsaw to cut off excess on longer ones....
