be verry carefull if you try to breed theese. I knew a guy that bred them for many years and he would loose males from time to time. the female will become verry aggressive and does kill the male sometimes after fertalization. however i don't put hard to breed specemins in a tank overnight and just walk away. im costantly checking to make sure nobody gets hurt to badly. just had an oscar male turn on his mate for no reason so strange things happen in cichlids but what a beautifull fish.

Thanks for advice Jerry i have plenty of cover for female and they have been in for 2 months now but no sign of female getting into breeding mode she is 7" but looks tiny compared to male i wonder if she is just too timid and small
