my local petsmart sells Polypterus senegalus, which is a closely related species that looks very similar and reaches the same size. P. ornatipinnis can be found usually online or at a really good lfs.

MY MOM: not from asia...from africa like all polypterus species(congo,zaire)these are predator fish( i use to feed mines with feeder fish, beef heart, bloodworms and sinking pellets for catfish)the most common one on the market is called ,here, palma polyp.

a lillte more...a pretty primive looking fish that can breathe air...do not put these guys with agressive or fast moving fish( they are quiet fish)and tank mates big enough so won`t get eaten!

no thats not a snakehead, here in canada thay banned those fish (snakeheads that is) in ontario they did anyway. can't buy them here anymore. that is a cool looking fish how big does it get?

yes and i heard they banned them from quebec also, i went to pointe claire and aqua tropicale on ferrier st, and they said they electricuted them cause they werent aloud to sell them anymore
