cichlids.com: Please tell me what this is !

Please tell me what this is !

The pet store he came from gave me this fish since it was the only one they had like it-- all they could tell me was that it supposedly is an African cichlid of some sort. I've had him 6 months and he keeps growing and getting better coloration but I still cannot find a pic of one like it . Also does anybody know the sex?
