Old Freddy
Old Freddy
Parachromis friedrichsthalii
Anoher old shot from my tank a few years back. Only had this guy for a couple of weeks - he was too aggressive towards my Dempsey pair. so I had to give him the boot - LFS took him back for full store credit. They must have known .... :)

Cool para, hey how many parachromis can be mix in a 125G?
Frank Donato » posted 2008/04/11 - 05:10
Hmmm Loisellei and Freddy are your best bets, but I think one adult pair will max that tank out fast. If you can get all males, you may be able to keep 3, like Loisellei, Freddy, Mota but I would defer to Alex on that. If you get a pair, things will get ugly :)

Frank i bought two crays yesterday and one is still living but the other is gone. He was swimming aroung and settled on a corner spot. My little Jaquar flushed him out and he jumped to the top of the tank and started floating down when the devil took one shot at him and then my Dovii just blasted him and ripped most of his leggs off and then it was a free for all. Everyone chimed in after that

Alex i tried some real plants and my FESTAE ripped the s##t of of them. Note to self no plants. Although the GT'S eat some of them

Tony, nice rocks and wood will do, our fish are too rough on most plants. But I know some people successfully using real plants with large digging cichlids. But these are huge plants and huge tanks.

Good story Tony - I had a JD pair that would take care of crays in seconds. Those were the days. Last night mine were standing proudly atop the driftwood stump centerpiece, once again claiming dominance over all.

Tony, I agree with Alex, though I've also had success with very low plants - like Java Fern, if there are places so that they dont block any cave entrances or get in the way of a dominant fish's territory.

Java fern attached to drift wood will work

John - I've heard that - I always anchored mine with a rock or something .. but how do you attach it to the driftwood?
