fluval 304 -- just today i removed carbon cause the guy at fish shop told me they are old and i replaced it with some new purigen ultimate filtration thingy

Carbon is only good for a few weeks then needs replaced.

Carbon is only good for a few weeks then needs replaced. The purigen ultimate filtration should help. Weekly 25% water changes would fix it too.

I agree with Robert. A 34 gal is a little small for this many fish..

I think you might have to many fish in the tank also. Poluting the water much faster than when they were in the 6 footer. You will be doing water changes all the time with this size tank.

I agree with the above....as they grow it will just get worse. TIme for a bigger tank :) You could always get a taller one rather than longer if you don't have the space :)

also , you may try moving your filter intake tube directly off of the bottom and maybe a small sponge filter would help also?

I agree also. Hope you can get it cleared up. I know how annoying it is. You had asked if it could be your water at the new place. It is a possibility. My water here sucks. Some days nice and clear others cloudy.
