how often you change the water? Do you use any chemicals? how big the tank? how many fish? what is their diet, how many times a day? How fast your fish finishing the food? what kind of filtration?

try not to use chemicals... they work for like 2 days and they are bad for the fish.. Eric from oddballs (pittsburgh) helped me with this problem before.. the chemicals are klling your good bacteria.. keep on the water change until it goes down ..

When it started I was doing 20% every other day. Was told to much. Tried am-quel plus it would go down then up next day. Tank is almost 3 months old. Filtration is a fluval 305 and Ehem ecco 2234. Also tried TLC (bacteria in a bottle).

Mike, I would do not more then 30% every third day. Local water may vary in quality, so don't risk it. Don't use any chemicals, don't overfeed and you'll be ok. If you change water often and fish not show any sign of illness, you'll be ok.
When I set up my current 210 g, I had the same issue, cause I did mistake and cure ick with chemicals instead of adding salt and bring up the temp.
To fix that situation I did what I told you above plus adding some Stress Coat with Aloe Vera. 2-3 weeks after water were cristal clear with great test for amonia, ph, nitrite and nitrate.
