They have staked out a shell and will not allow anyone else near it.

Dane, he is still small, close to 3" now, was only 2" when I had to part him to my brother's tank

Thanks for the comments everyone. Robert, the males are larger ( fully grown like 2" larger)At this point I got them all at the same time and he is 1" longer than the female, plus his fins are pointier, but I dont know if that is a definate way to sex them
