I would say its a male. Looks like it could be a fair age, how big is it?

Couldnt say for sure, but the colors look a little washed out. Maybe a good diet will help color this one up.
If it is as you have said 6 to 8 inches would have to be a male I"d think.

Geoff, I am not an expert.
I fed my GT hikari pellets. Frozen bloodworms, some salmon pellets and he loves frozen peas. I take the shells of them because they dont seem to like them. Hope this helps.
