My Trimac
My Trimac
Cichlasoma trimaculatum
This is my trimac, about two months back in his old tank... he has grown a further 2 inches now... Has also developed the steel grayish tinge, from being olive green to gray... has those 3 spots and one above the eye. :)

ram...why dont you get something for him to play with ??.. 1 or 2 lil convicts for example..he might become more dominant and by the same way , less shy...he(it) looks nice!

I had a convict in there for him, but I felt bad for that poor little chap and moved him out (or, the convict is in this tank.. The Trimac moved out)... I have 2 jewels I am not too fond of lol.. maybe those once the tank has some place for them to hide... I can't stand a massacre :)

ram, was it labelled as a trimaculatus at the lfs?

LFS folks here don't label fish, and all Trimacs are Low Grade FH. :) Sadly, some folks even sell Texas sp. Blue Cichlid as Blue Flowerhorn.

I had to resort to a lot of research online to convince myself that this is no low grade FH, but a Trimac.

is this a true trimac Eam? i see many lookalikes of this guy at the lfs nearby and they call them local FH's.. i couldnt tell the difference between a local FH and a trimac anyway.. lol..

was just looking at some pics of trimac on the internet and they seem to have a bit of a red belly.. hopefully yours will develop one as it grows.. what do u feed it btw?

Thank you Korah...Yes it is a true trimac. Has the olive green- bluish gray gradient, just the 3 spots on the body and one over the gills AND a good red belly (now, not at the time of taking the pic)

BTW, where are you from?
