Jose,managuense is originate from central america, on the pacific side of honduras down to costa rica...but it has been introduced in many other countries( mexico, guatemala) as food fish

They're in US waterways now, especially along the Gulf Coast. They were used for controlling fish population in fish farm ponds, mainly Tilapia aka Mississippi Bucketfish, for better quality. Of course whenever anyone those ponds flood they get everywhere. I even read them being caught in Utah and that they fight like a mofo.
