I'm thinking male, more red on the bottom. Mine is a female and she's not as red.

No, but I was wondering about that though. I was wanting to breed mine, but don't know how. They are beautiful aren't they.

It depends on how big it is if this firemouth is over 4" then it's a female as it's dorsal fin dosn't curve up to a point. (If you click on my name and look at the picture titled "My Tank Boss" you'll see what I meen). If it's smaller then 4" it's hard to tell as they can mature late. The degree of red isn't a real good indication as the degree and size of "redness" can differ with stress, if it's the dominant fish in the tank, if it's in a new enviroment, ect.

I guess your's is a female, mine has the dorsal fin that curves up to a point. I really wish it was a female...now I might go back and get a female. hmmm?!!! =)
