M. Auratus male or a mut maybe?
M. Auratus male or a mut maybe?
Melanochromis auratus
I can't tell if it's a male going through its maturation process, or a cross-breed. "It" as it shall be called for now is rather aggress and picks on the other two M. Auratus', so I think maybe it is?

Sounds like and looks like male auratus to me.

i think so too, but then i have another question, it seems to have bit a piece of one of the tail fins of another M. Auratus, and the fish just swims at the top now away from everything else... have any suggestions on what i should do?

How bad does the tail fin look on the other fish? If bad, you might want to treat him. I only have one male and he isn't your typical auratus (he is..well..nuts..if he only knew his potential)..anyway..You may want to consider getting rid of one of the males, if all are males, then keeping only one.

It's really not too bad, just a very tiny portion of the bottom of it. But yes, I have thought of getting rid of the one darker male, he seems to be the only instigator of the whole bunch

He is instigator because he is dominant male. If he goes, another male will probably take his place as "top dog". If the other fish is not too bad, I would say just keep a close watch on it.
