so nice, i love these! kylie i have a plant ? for u since u seem to know what your doin asfar as live plants go. i found this really cool aquatic plant at the bayou by my house, mind u not the healthiest water system, lol. anywho, i found this plant, and their is a bunch of it, it like a leafy vine, kinda like those fancy plants. i wanted to no if you think it would be safe to put some in my tanks? cause i dont want to put anything in my tanks that could possibly harm my fish or my established tank. i am not so much worried about the plant hurting my fish as i am the the place where the plant is coming from. i dont know if there is any kind of bad bacteria, or microrginisms, that may harm my fish, or my biological filter. is their a way to kinda steralize the plant before adding it to my tank?

Have you been able to get your algae to grow more yet? This guy would be in his glory then.

hey brian i have 4 at the moment .. they are about 2in .. so still little. waiting to see if i have a pair at least and will then take the other two out to another tank.. luckily they stay small and arent big fish.. i would be wary of the plant there may be pollutants in the water that have leached in to the plant would hate for your fish to die.. i buy alll mine from lfs as fish plants that way i know they are safe..

hi Kylie, wrote to you a while ago about carbon in the canister filter.
cant find your reaply if there was one.
looked at your pics. wow looks great, no carbon?
will the water stay clear? crystal clear? i thought that it was the carbon that did that?
any other thoughts out there??

carbon does work but need to be change every 2 weeks or can be bad for the tank if u do lots of water changes u shouldn't need it
hey kylie get some more lights on your tank if u are geting brown algee not enough light try buying a 150watt metal halid works a treat
Cichlid Novice » posted 2008/07/18 - 07:15

robert johnson » posted 2008/07/18 - 07:20

hey sorry .. i did reply but cant remember which pic it was on . i don tuse carbon in any tanks except if i have to medicate the fish and that is to remove the meds.. i have read more negative things about carbon than positive.. removes much needed vitamins from the water and also that 2 weeks is the max that it lasts. i know alot of people and none use carbon lfs for example never been to fish store that uses carbon..
