CS, how can you distinguish between the two species?
I thought the patterning on my two fish more closely resembled the the helianthus after comparing some pics.
But any insight will be appreciated.
the V pattern on the lower jaw is much more defined, the spotting on the helianthus 99% of the time never covers even 1/3 of their body rendering most a pale tan more than anything. The Splendens carries more powerful markings, from color patterns, to brightness of colors. The face is also puching more toward Cyndricus style of the splendens rather than the a-typical brichardi face. This is a good find Dane. VERY rarely seen and kept. Keep in mind, they do carry typical neolamprologus breeding habits, species tank, or neo only tank when trying to spawn them as they get highly aggressive.
Interesting. Thanks for the info CS.
Can you do me a favor? Look back into my pics and look at the pictures of the male i posted and see if it is a helianthus or splendens.
Once again thankyou
Sweet Tank.
