Its not a Meeki... but what is it? He looks cool, and is only 10 bucks. Sorry - cell phone pic - best I could get. Looks like some sort of Vieja maybe?

sorry argentea
Frank Donato » posted 2008/04/28 - 18:48
I assume, like most Vieja, that he will be a giant beast?

Buy it! They do not know what they have! Those are outstanding fish. But ya, they get pretty big.
Tony Idone » posted 2008/04/28 - 19:06
Franco they get about 12" and they can be somewhat aggressive not like your louie
Tony Idone » posted 2008/04/28 - 19:10
Frank do you want a mated pair of Meeki??
Tony Idone » posted 2008/04/28 - 19:11

Oh my!! If it is an argentea I would by it and a tank for it if I had to! Beautiful fish!

Where at Tony? I really wouldnt have anywhere to put them, that 29 would be overcrowded, and they wouldnt be able to get comfy in the 72 with Lois and friends. Nathan - dont really have space for a 12" fish, otherwise I would.. he looks cool. Tony, you should pick him up - cage the Devil :)

Christian, he's at Selmers Pet Land in Huntington station ... 45 minute drive for you? I agree, looks like Argentea, except for the spots... the Argentea I've seen dont have the horizontal patches on the body. Definately could be though, and those could fade/change with age/size.
Nathan Sederholm » posted 2008/04/28 - 19:28
For ten bucks you would almost have to buy it. They are beautiful. Search them on the google or something. You will never see another one probably. 100% Argentea too. The spots are pretty sporadic on individuals.

What if i buy it, and he gets murdered overnight? Thats my worry... not the money, but the fish's health. Only thing I can do to make room is take two of my smallest fish, like Meeki and Cutteri, and put them in my newly set up 29 - but I was going to use that to breed more Cutteris, so that would kill that idea ... dilemas dilemas.

karrie edwards » posted 2008/04/28 - 19:52
Beautiful, and i think vieja as well.
Nathan Sederholm » posted 2008/04/28 - 20:37
Probably wouldn't have to worry abut that. It is a Vieja. They can be the handfuls as you know.
Frank Donato » posted 2008/04/28 - 20:41
Then I guess my worry is the opposite, he poses a threat to others: Loisellei, V. Heterospila, Meeki, Salvini, Convict and Cutteri. :) Now you have me really wanting this fish ... :)

Maybe,Vieja argentea female?
Nathan Sederholm » posted 2008/04/28 - 21:43
Def Argentea. I had Regani. Green base on Regani, white base on Argentea. Should be ok but can't ever tell on individuals.

Unless I'm not seeing the colors right. The spots def look Argentea too. Regani has less spots.
Tony Idone » posted 2008/04/28 - 21:57
Also Nathan from what i recall regani have a more rounded body and not so blunt a face

Nathan Sederholm » posted 2008/04/28 - 22:17
No, they are similar shaped actually. Mostly the color difference. Heres an example of Regani and others. http://www.tedsfishroom.com/wp/wp-content/gallery/aca-2007/edit_ACA_07_vieja_regani_001.jpg
