Everytime I see these in the store and think of buying one, they aren't this pretty in color. They are always brownish. Any clues? Do they brighten up at home?

Michelle, they do usually look pretty crummy when they are small and crammed in LFS tanks. They show their color more as they grow and get comfortable with their surroundings and clean water. I've also seen some stores sell jouvie Parachromis like Loisellei and Motaguense mislabeled as Salvini, so be careful of who you buy from.
