Ok i lied this will be last post,5 smilies for the fish but PC is not the be all and end all of what is what in plec land, the reason you won't see these on PC is because they are a man-made hybrid,PC does not recognise man-made hybrids as true species, they are common longfin BN's,they are a nice fish and i have and breed these myself but they do not occur in the wild.
well, these aren't bristlenose at all infact, they are LF (L-018) and Red Calico X, but then, you called them bristlenose, so apparently thats what they are. Created in my tanks, for my tanks, now if only I knew what I was doing...
Keith, you were very quick to voice your opinion about me, but know nothing about me, or what I do, or know, or what I keep in my collection, except for the certain few pics I post every now and again. I have said before, I am not big into Pleco, doesn't mean I don't have any, It means I prefer other things both for keeping and breeding, But having a nice showtank with the perfect Pleco is by no-means a bad thing, Especially If I take 4 of my favorite species and create the exact one I want, not for recycle, or resale, for my tanks. Not bad for a "beginner" huh, cross 2 impossible to breed species, a veggie eater, and a carnivore to create what I wanted in my tanks...
L018+L048+LF-Calico Gene+L203, to create what you see above, 3 generations, then back to L081, and bam...the L018,L081,L085 Gold Nugget Calico Long Fin, the perfect showtank pleco :D
i dont beleive you, wayne...sounds too easy..Lo18 are already hard to breed, dont tell me you crossed them with bristlenose, i dont even think thats possible...sorry but keith`s experience with plecos is more reliable than yours, and the fishes showed are just normal long fin bristlenose to me..i dont like to argue but i had to say my words on this, and i dont want keith to go away from this site.. i dont like your attitude of "i know it all on all"...and ill keep on not rating your pics or even leave the site for a while, again
Impossible to do this in less than a year...considering all your fish died 10 months ago...How could you possibly fix such a complex strain in so short a time....and as chuck said no way to breed L18s (barancistrus) with ptergoplicthys (red calicos). If you knew anything about breeding plecos you wouldn't make such ridiculous claims. Why don't you post your "albino L200s" Love to see 'em....
alright, i have been following this conversation due to the fact that it started on my pleco pic. i hope this is not any of your last posts because you all seem very knowledgeable in the trade. people such as my self appreciate all the info you guys give to us.
with that said, i would love if you all took a look at all of my fish and had such a deep discussion about them.lol
anyway, just wanted to say thanks for the info... is the green phantom/L200 i have a hybrid or is it natural?
come back today, and both Chuck and James , just like clock work. OH, Chuck, James, maybe you should re-read what My first posting here was before you both jump in with your opinions. And I suppose I need to point out that these are just shy of 2" long total length, and just over 3.5 month, oh the joy of Calico gowth. Before any of the 3 of you opened your mouths, I suggest obtaining the 4 species listed, a breeding pair of each, L018(M)+L048(F)= (F)+ L203(M) + L018(x3) = what you see above. Not one of the three of you have to believe me, HOWEVER, I showed you "VISUAL" proof at the top of this page (Suggesting you all go look at the photo once again) and next time you guys decide to run off at the mouth, be sure to know what you talking about. Keith may know a good deal about Pleco, but so can anyone else who can go to PlanetCatfish.com and read, which is where most who boast about pleco information obtain it.
LOL.... Is breeding anything as simple as a linear equation.. I am in this hobby only for 12 years and have managed to breed angels and few other cichlids, live bearers etc, but never went pleco-wards.. pardon me if I am ignorant :P But I still can't believe your story...
Milot: the L200 is a natural species. They give plecos "L" numbers to help Hobbyists ID them. Most plecos are not properly described (full scientific name) yet by Icthyologists. and as common names vary from place to place (I call these "Green Bullodg Plecos") It provides a common reference for hobbyists worldwide.
One more thing Wayne...There is a guy in Toronto with these exact same fish. He calls them red calico bushynose. He's been selling them here for the last year or so...So don't claim these as your own personal creation.: http://www.pricenetwork.ca/deal/Jason19_Coming_to_Toronto_Saturday_November_1st_or_8th_Assorted_Fishie_Friends_F-203963.html
The reason all the knowledgeble and experienced Aquarists get their hackles up with you (and the reason so may have left, I could fill half a page here with names) is because you constantly BS about your fish. You are also EXTREMELY condescending when you reply to people, and you never give "Smilies" to anybody on here. You started with me on my first post over a year ago!!!!. I don't like it when people falsely inflate themselves to be more than they are...I don't bear you any ill will, but you need to be told the truth.
the 2 closet fish to Thing(JD) and Hans(Severum)is an Oscar and a Bichr ...
