this is a vieja synspilum, also known as red headed cichlid.

almost karrie, its a Vieja Guttulatum:)

your the man brian, i had a synspilum, and it got large quick, and her aggression wasnt very bad.

WTY Karrie:) i love these fish, 1 of my favorite big CA cichlids. they need a big tank which you have, so he should get to his full size of around 16" in your 125g. feed him krill and hikari cichlid gold to bring out the red specles they get on their face and head. hes a very nice male!

sorry, could be guttu...those 2 looks the same sometimes but guttu has a black spot behind the eye( guttu= drop= looks like a tear drop)not seen on thi one but it ressemble so much to a fen

Hey chuck, how are you? I believe it is a guttu, i had a vieja, and at first i thought thats what it was, but then brian nailed it. Its a exect match. I looked up the type that you said it was, and it favors them, but i think its a guttu.
