I just bought one how do I know the difference?

The difference between the burundi and kigoma frontosas? The burundi has six stripes and the kigoma has 7. Also the first stripe on the kigoma is more like a blotch below the eye than a stripe. There are many variants of 6-stripe frontosa though, with the burundi being the least expensive.

i paid $55 canadian for my frontosa but im not sure if its burundi it has 6 stripes, and really nice blue tint.

I just bought a cichlid that looks similar but with a flatter forehead and a bit smaller. 5 distinct stripes down the side and 1 in between the eyes. Is there an african cichlid that looks very similar to this with 5+1 stipes? Time will tell I guess when a hump starts to grow or not....

The Neolamprologus tretocephalus (some one posted a pic of one a couple of days ago) might resemble a frontosa a little. When in doubt go by the dorsal fin, it starts on the white stripe on trets and the black stripe on fronts.
