Two heads are better than one! Neat shot Marti. Even the front seems a bit confused by them, lol.

HI BIP! Where have you been? How are you? This poor guy was floating at the top of the 350g today. I decided to try to save him so I put him in a large bowl of tank water (all I had available) with an air hose and put some meds in. when I left for work he was still alive so we will see...

Hey Marti! I'm doing ok, hurting a lot but ok, lol. I was taking advantage of the nice weather and doing some work outside. I was draining my pool and cleaning the new tank, omg was it nasty dirty. I have never ever ever seen a tank as dirty as this was. Their idea of cleaning it was to buy a whole new filter. The media wouldn't accept any more gunk. When I cleaned the intake (not the tube just the 'grate'), I had to bang it against the sink and got globs out the size of large grapes. Kept me busy that's for sure. It got set up Sunday night. I was going to take pics of it last night but it was still a bit cloudy so I took some tonight, crystal clear. I'll post pics of it and all the goodies tomorrow/later today actually. How have you been?

So sorry to hear about this guy. Hope he makes it, fingers crossed tightly. Any idea of what's wrong with him?

busy as usual...we had Madison's b-day party Saturday night which was fun but exhausting and I got cancelled from work last night. We bought a new boat last month and did a lot of work on that too. I can't wait to see the pics of the new tank!

He was badly beaten up...I assume by the male calvus???? His forehead has a massive area that is almost down to bone! his fins are frazzled too. I really hope to find him alive when I go home this am!
bip_ 4u (m) » posted 2009/04/21 11:45 am
Glad to hear her b-day went well. Ohh cool, congrats on the boat. I miss going out on them.
Aww poor guy. I really hope he will be ok. Wonder what happened that calv went nuts on him.
You should check out the pics I posted today of some fish. I discovered a new way, new to me anyway, to take pics of them. I think they turned out soo sharp.

ok bip spill the beans on how you took such great pics? I need some advice...lol
bip_ 4u (m) » posted 2009/04/21 12:05 pm
Lol, Actually, I found out purely accidental. I'm on the comp the other night and I kept hearing "thump" "thump" "thump" against the glass of the tank, but everytime I looked over I couldn't see what was causing it (tank lights were off). So I hear it again and I grabbed my flashlight that is 115 lumins and I angle it down on the tank as to not blind any fish, lol (didn't hit them full beam head on but used the halo around the beam to light it up). When I did that I noticed how cool the fish looked in that light. So I grabbed my camera. Flashlight in one hand cam in the other, no flash. Arms got tired waiting for them to come into the light though, lol.

Oh and btw, the thumps were because Midas and Purple Haze were fighting again. Lily is one hot momma, lol.

that is too cool bip...what a happy accident :)
bip_ 4u (m) » posted 2009/04/21 12:21 pm
Yeah, you aren't kidding, lol.
So how are all the other new fish doing? Hope all has settled down now.
Marti and Matt » posted 2009/04/21 12:49 pm
Yes they have all settled down. When i woke up this morning one of the sand sifters went to town biulding a nest and they are only 1.5 inches! it is pretty amazing and exciting :)
bip_ 4u (m) » posted 2009/04/21 12:53 pm
Oh that is too cool. So very happy to hear. They are starting at a young age, lol. Sorry it took me a bit to answer, was typing out a comment on another pic.
Marti and Matt » posted 2009/04/21 01:04 pm
It is probably just practice, but it was a pretty cool looking nest all the same..lol. I think they are REALLY too young to be trying already :)
bip_ 4u (m) » posted 2009/04/21 01:12 pm
Who knows. I thought my labs were too young but here she is with her third mouthfull already and just barely 2 inches, maybe 2 and a quarter inches. One good thing is that you know they are willing lol. And might also mean you have male and female. I don't think they build nests or practice building, unless a female is around, but I don't know for sure.
Marti and Matt » posted 2009/04/21 01:23 pm
That's what I think too, in which case makes me VERY happy...lol. Keep my fingers crossed for lots o' babies someday!
bip_ 4u (m) » posted 2009/04/21 01:30 pm
Lots of luck, got them crossed. Lots of babies would mean I would know exactly where to go and buy some when I set up my 130, lol.
I think I'm going to get off here and get my tush to bed. I'm over beat. Have a great day and I will talk with you later.
