ages yet they can hold for up to a month .. longer if they feel not secure about letting them out.

shell be fine.. she will spit when they are too big or if shes hungry . she might be letting them out at night when its dark and no one can see.. she will need rocks for the m to hid in where other fish cant fit for her to feel they are safe .. i have a few small mounds of rocks that all my babies hide in till they are bigger

you mean these guys how its all done.. super easy breed when they are mature enough .. she lays eggs then as she picks them up in her mouth the male fertilises them. . she keeps them moving in her mouth sort of rolls the around.. the hatch and are little fish with egg sqacks. then they use all that and afree swimming fish . she will keep them or let them out and take them back into her mouth if she senses danger another fish going to eat them . till they are to big to fit in anymore and then its everyfish to themselves..

does that help at all.. if not google and you can learn it all or borrow a good book and you will be very knowledgeable real fast .. or ask the people who work at your fish store they should know lots and be able to explain all to you ..

depends on breed of fish .. obviously she was ready.. they breed when they are sexually mature enough .. these guys dont get super big so they would breed when smaller..

I guess they just do it when they are ready. Mine is quite young still also. Only 2.5 in or so. The young ones don't always know quite what to do though. I transfered mine to a breeding tank about 2 weeks in the first time and she spat out the eggs and then ate them! Bah. Good luck!!!

I would say she definitely is holding. She may still wind up spitting them too early or eating them. If this has only been going on since May 13th, you still have a couple of weeks to go before she releases the babies. Congrats and good luck with them.

Melanochromis Auratus usually spawn at about 2" to 3" and mine held her first brood for about 3 weeks..
