Too cute!! You can see their little horns already developing! LOL Demasoni's are some of the most attractive fish, but I'm even afraid of them. LOL

tony henderson » posted 2010/02/10 01:14 am
i do the 1 time a week
Jeremy Weir » posted 2010/02/10 01:21 am
Thanks Tony, thats what I'm doing so far. What you think 20% or 30% is good right, or you think more?
tony henderson » posted 2010/02/10 01:28 am
i actually do about 30% once a week and on the 4th week i hight even do a 50%
Jeremy Weir » posted 2010/02/10 01:39 am

Jeremy Weir » posted 2010/02/10 02:29 am
YW, well thats good Tony, I don't think I could do that no lifting thing that has to be hard. The good thing is you should be getting free water changing service from you kids right? If I remember you do have some older kids right?

Jeremy Weir » posted 2010/02/18 11:45 pm
Jim I can get a hold of you on here as well. You should start with a group of 12 or so. Jim we should let them grow out some.
Jeremy Weir » posted 2010/02/18 11:54 pm
Steph you should up that order if you still can to at least 10 total.
Robert 'Rodriguez » posted 2010/02/18 11:58 pm
Jeremy i saw some at 2 to 3" the other day i need t clear out a tank waiting on one to finish cycling. they looked great i counted 20 of them so i hope they will still be there next week!
Jeremy Weir » posted 2010/02/19 12:03 am
Thats cool you might also be able to sex them.
Robert 'Rodriguez » posted 2010/02/19 12:12 am
yup it would be cool. but what ratio?

Jeremy Weir » posted 2010/02/19 12:26 am
I was told it don't matter if you get 12 or more.
Robert 'Rodriguez » posted 2010/02/19 12:31 am

Jim Dee » posted 2010/02/19 12:38 am

Robert 'Rodriguez » posted 2010/02/19 12:45 am
u read my mind maybe i can put some $ down ill see.
Jeremy Weir » posted 2010/02/19 12:45 am
Ok Jim just remind me on here in a month or so , Jim they are slow grows so you know.
Jeremy Weir » posted 2010/02/19 01:01 am
Rob just so you know I started with 12 and ended up with a group of 5. I am very lucky to have a successful breeding group of 5. This is very rare from what I am told. The breeder by me that I got them from has a group of 10. I am planning on adding to my group as time goes on, will ask my breeder first before I do.
Jim Dee » posted 2010/02/19 01:03 am
Yeah same as SP.44's which I have an endless supply of.
Robert 'Rodriguez » posted 2010/02/19 01:07 am
thanks
Jeremy Weir » posted 2010/02/19 01:11 am
Rob read up on them if you didn't yet and plan on putting lots and lots of rock in their tank.
Jeremy Weir » posted 2010/02/19 01:33 am
Thats cool Jim do they do well with peacocks?
Jim Dee » posted 2010/02/19 02:41 am
Jeremy I wouldn't add to a good thing. You may mess the situation up. There is a website where a guy tells a story of having a group and he added just one more which resulted in chaos. If I recall he ended up with only one left. I will try to find the reference.
Jeremy Weir » posted 2010/02/19 02:44 am
Jim just read up on them and read they can get mean so thats all I needed to hear. lol!
Jim Dee » posted 2010/02/19 03:02 am
http://www.african-cichlid.com/Demasoni.htm

is the website he ended up with two left both females
Jeremy Weir » posted 2010/02/19 03:13 am
Cool thanks Jim I will check with my breeders as well but thanks for the good info. They are definately a challenge Jim you still want to get some. lol You are going to put them in their own tank right or no?
Jim Dee » posted 2010/02/19 03:20 am
Yeah I intend to initially, but then I want to put them with some yellow labs in a 120 gallon I am building into a wall.
Jeremy Weir » posted 2010/02/19 03:30 am
I had 2 labs in with mine. I took one in for a trade in they where both male thats why I took one out. They where fine in there and still have one in the tank with them. Thats cool putting one into the wall.
Jim Dee » posted 2010/02/19 03:40 am
Cool I have a yellow lab colony which produces every month or so, its good to hear that they get along well. I have seen other peoples tanks and these two fish look good together.
Jeremy Weir » posted 2010/02/19 03:55 am
Yes they do there might be a picture in mine if you look at them. Some people act like you can't put anything with them and thats not true I have 4 syno cats with mine 1 Lab yellow,1 Sciaenochromis fryeri and 1 Labidochromis sp. "Mbamba"
Yellow Fin Mbamba .
Jeremy Weir » posted 2010/02/19 03:57 am
I should say it does take the right mix thats for sure. I also forgot Jim 1 Aulonocara Jacobfreibergi
Albino Eureka Red .
Jeremy Weir » posted 2010/02/19 04:00 am
Jim also this is all in a 40gal .lol
Jim Dee » posted 2010/02/19 06:04 am
Yeah I really agree with the overcrouding if you keep up with the water and filter changes and have good air. It stops males establishing territory and becoming defensive.
