De-throned and battered ex-tank boss!
Metriaclima estherae
This ex-alpha male red zebra was practically beaten to death a few days ago, I really thought he was a goner. Prior to the 'beat down' he undisputedly ruled over 30 mbuna in my 125gal tank for two years. Red zebra #2 (the beta male) normally gives #1 a wide berth until I caught him beating #1 to a pulp. Not only that, my two most dominant male socolofi's were inflicting a lot of serious 'cheap shots' while he down. All three were intent on eliminating him until I was able to net him out. No fish has yet to step up as the new tank boss.
